Laura uses tiny pieces of printed text and pattern, combined with acrylic paint, to create her images and to relay a bit of history of the place:

• The text used in this piece includes information about the construction of Tate Hill Pier, the words 'full force of the north sea'
• There is also a tribute to Frank Meadow Sutcliffe and his photography, including the main focus of his photographs: fishing and the fisher folk of the town.
• an old map of the east side is used for the buildings
