Pamela Legg is a cartoon artist living and working in Somerset. She created her Gutterman character when she was in her late teens but started using him as a main character in her work around ten years ago. She first painted him stood in the rain under a broken gutter, hence the name 'Gutterman'. Since then she has painted him in scenes from around the world and even in different trades, which led to a series of paintings called 'Jack of All Trades' Aside from this series, Pamela says 'my paintings are more generally inspired from places I've visited from around the UK or just created from my own slightly bizarre imagination'.
A couple of years ago Pamela decided to introduce a new character, a Mrs Alice Gutterman, the wife of Mr Gutterman, who sports a rather fine, large straw hat. She is still developing the personality of this character and is excited to start work on a new series of paintings soon.
Pamela works mainly in acrylics but has used oils and watercolours, especially when painting wildlife or landscapes.
She describes herself as a self taught artist but has studied Art & Design at Somerset College of Arts & Technology and also has a BA Hons degree in Animation from UWE in Bristol.
