Simon Clarke is a self-taught artist living on the North Devon coast.
About himself he says ‘From an early age painting was always going to be my chosen path … I threw myself into experimenting with different painting methods and mediums, from painting portraits in chalk to abstract and surreal landscapes in oil…’
Eventually he settled on acrylic paint as he found that suited him best. It allows him to create paintings with such fine details and depth.
Later, Simon began introducing characters to his work and knew that this was something he would develop further. He likes to fill his paintings with as much detail and clever humour as possible. You can often find something hidden away in a corner, to keep the interest of the observer.
Whitby Galleries has sold Simon’s prints for many years, only occasionally procuring an original painting to sell.
Room With A V’ewe was painted in 2025 and released as a print in 2026.
